Avatar Returns, a Major Cinematic Success

Avatar premiered in December 2009 and was a massive global success. With a runtime of 2 hours and 41 minutes, nobody wanted it to end. This James Cameron film has been our go-to movie over the last decade; everyone must have seen it at least once. Watching Sam Worthington as our Jake Sully, Zoe Saldana as the incredible Neytiri, or Sigourney Weaver as Dr. Grace Augustine, among many others.

Where did the last movie leave us?

The plot of Avatar is set in the future year of 2154 where a former marine finds himself on a different planet to complete a mission. Pandora is filled with exotic life forms and is the source of a highly sought-after mineral on Earth that could help end the energy crisis. Since this planet has an atmosphere that's very toxic and harmful to humans, the Avatar program is carried out, in which humans can transfer their consciousness into a biologically engineered body inspired by Pandora's natives, allowing them to survive the toxic gas.

Our protagonist infiltrates among the Na'vi (the natives) to prevent them from interfering with the mining of this mineral. The problem is that Jake feels great in his Avatar body; he integrates perfectly into the tribe and forms close bonds with Neytiri, which distorts his objectives throughout the film due to this woman and Jake's acceptance into the native clan. Everything turns into a struggle, and as we well know, everyone ends up facing off in a battle where our protagonist must choose a side.

Avatar 2: Synopsis and Release Date

More than a decade after the first film the story of Sully’s and Neytiri’s family is told, they share how they manage to stay safe from all dangers pursuing them. They will show us what has happened during all this time and how they survive difficulties they encounter since they are forced to explore Pandora after having to leave their home. Above all, we will see how they live around water, where they'll meet a new clan and perhaps find a new home.

Fortunately, we know that the same cast from the previous movie has been maintained so we will be able to see the same actors reprising their roles just as well as they did in Avatar 1. The title of this movie is Avatar: The Way of Water and we know it will premiere in theaters on December 16th this year 2022.
